You've apparently used a short domain name (e.g., http://foo) in your browser instead of using a fully-qualified domain name (e.g., http://foo.olin.edu). Try using the fully qualified name instead, and that should get you to where you want to be.
Otherwise, the host you're looking for simply doesn't exist.
